North Carolina lacks “strategic reopening approach”

Eight weeks ago, the models and projections showed coronavirus overrunning hospitals and killing tens of thousands of people. In response, we quickly closed down businesses and schools. Now the science shows it’s time to reopen.

“Now that we have flattened the curve, we must take immediate action to change the trajectory of our state and protect the financial and personal health of our citizens, especially the lower-income workers who have been harmed the most,” writes Doyle Parrish, CEO of Raleigh-based Summit Hospitality Group, in a letter to Governor Cooper.

“We should immediately move to safely reopen all businesses. At the very least, employers must have a date certain to get back in business.”
