Temple Sloan on N.C. business community: “Give us the tools and we’ll finish the job”
North Carolina needs a clear plan for re-opening safely, and business leaders need to be at the table as it comes together, writes O. Temple Sloan Jr. in a letter to Gov. Roy Cooper.
Sloan is the former CEO of General Parts Co. and co-founder of Highwoods Properties.
“Your administration has spoken about the progress North Carolina has made to slow the spread, by taking the pandemic seriously. Note we need to hear a clear strategy to reopen the state’s economy — the development of which should don’t be viewed as a trade-off of the health and safety of our citizens,” he writes.
“Businesses need to understand the protocols necessary to get back to work, and business representatives from all sectors and regions must have a seat at the table when these guidelines are being developed. … As Churchill told President Roosevelt in February of 1941, ‘Give bus the tools and we’ll finish the job.’”
